Privacy Policy

Effective Date: March 28, 2026

Dear Nobody ("we," "our," or "us") values your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application ("App"). By installing or using Dear Nobody, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

Letter Content: The letters you write exist only in your device's memory while you're composing them. Once you release a letter, it is permanently destroyed. We do not save, store, or log anything you write.

AI Response Feature (Optional, Paid): If you enable "computer responds," your letter is sent to Anthropic, a third-party AI service, for processing. Anthropic does not store your letter or use it to train their models. The AI generated response is displayed and never stored in a database. This feature is off by default and requires a paid subscription and your explicit consent.

Minimal Device Data: We store a single preference on your device (whether you've completed onboarding). That's it.

Subscription Status: Managed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We do not collect or store your payment information.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide AI-generated responses to your letters (if you opt in).

  • Process subscriptions for premium features (handled by Apple).

3. What We Do Not Collect

  • We do not create accounts or collect personal information (no name, no email, no profile).

  • We use AppsFlyer solely for marketing attribution (understanding which ads lead to installs). You can decline tracking via the App Tracking Transparency prompt.

  • We do not access your camera, microphone, location, contacts, or photos.

  • We do not store or log anything you write.

  • We do not sell your data.


4. How We Share Your Information

AI Provider: If you opt into AI "computer responds," your letter is sent to Anthropic, a third-party AI service, solely to generate a response. It is not stored or shared for any other purpose. Anthropic provides data protection equal to or exceeding our own and does not retain your letter text or use it for model training.

Apple: Subscription payments are processed entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details.

Legal: We may share information if required by law.

Business Transfers: If Dear Nobody is acquired, your data may transfer to the new owner under this same policy.

We never sell or rent your data.

AppsFlyer: If you consent via the App Tracking Transparency prompt, a device identifier (IDFA) is shared with AppsFlyer to attribute your install to an advertising source. If you decline, only aggregate and privacy-safe attribution methods (such as Apple's SKAdNetwork) are used. No letter content or personal information is ever shared with AppsFlyer.

5. Data Security

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your data in transit. By design, there is almost nothing to protect — your letters are destroyed immediately and we maintain no database of user information.

6. Data Retention

Your letters are destroyed the moment you release them. We do not maintain user accounts or databases. There is nothing to retain and nothing to delete.

7. Children's Privacy

Dear Nobody is not intended for users under 9. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

8. Your Privacy Choices & Rights

  • AI Responses: You control whether your letters are sent for AI processing. This is off by default and requires a subscription to enable.

  • Subscriptions: Manage or cancel your subscription through your Apple ID settings.

  • Contact Us: You may request information about your data at any time (though we hold essentially none).


9. Third-Party Services

We integrate the following third-party services. Their practices are governed by their own privacy policies:

- Anthropic:AI response generation
- Apple StoreKit: Subscription management and payments
- AppsFlyer: Marketing attribution (measures which ads lead to installs; no personal data is shared without your consent via the App Tracking Transparency prompt)
